For those of you who have no clue what 1919 is, allow me to introduce you to this amazing women’s group that’s trying to change your life! Formed in May of 2013, 1919 is an team within Blue1647 that aims to provide resources to female technologists and entrepreneurs. This initiative offers more than web and mobile development courses it also includes mentorship, participation in monthly networking meet-ups and training workshops.
You may be wondering why is it called 1919? Well let me give you a little history lesson.. 1919 is the year that ended the women’s suffrage movement and the 19th amendment–the voting rights act for women.
So back in May, 1919 had an amazing tea party event for women in technology and entrepreneurship. If you missed it you NEED to check out the inspiring conversation right now!
Nevertheless, 1919 is back with something great. The organization is now offering FREE fall cohorts for women who want to learn tech and entrepreneurial skills. The cohorts start on September 19th and commemorate with an official “Demo Day” of the skills learned and cultivate during the course. The cohorts for the fall are:
Graphic Design with Rhonda Jackson on Mondays from 6p-9p
Public Speaking with Joi Johnson on Tuesdays from 6p-9p
Entrepreneurship with Allyson Scrutchens on Wednesdays from 6p-9p
WordPress with Antonio Garcia on Thursdays from 6p-8p
Photography with Amber Green on Saturdays from 1p-4p
Where else can you go and these skills FOR FREE?!? Nowhere! So don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity. If you are interested in signing up for any of the cohorts email Allyson Scrutchens at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Maybe you’re afraid of the time commitment or you don’t know what cohort to take. Lucky for you there’s an informational session at Blue1647 on Tuesday September 13th from 6-8. You can meet the instructors, get more information about the classes, meet past participants who will share their experiences, and even sign up for future classes.
Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity!
